Energi install new micromorph modules for commercial solar PV installation
Energi PLC were appointed by Bury College to install a 50kWp system at their Beacon Centre, using a new micromorph technology. The Solar PV system uses Inventux thin-film Solar PV modules along with a complementing low pitch flat roof mounting system also from Inventux. This technology demonstrates the advancements within the Solar PV industry and has allowed Energi to expand their portfolio and embrace the future of PV.
Bury College are one of the leading Further Education establishments in the North of England. Energi have previously installed a 50kWP system at their Woodbury Campus, which is what led the college to work with Energi on their Beacon Centre project. As part of their on-going development and carbon reduction, Bury College were looking to add to their renewable energy generation by installing Solar PV at this large educational facility building.
For this particular project, Bury College asked Energi to look into a thin-film technology for Solar PV. This innovative form of Inventux Solar PV modules used incorporate a micromorph (a combination of amorphous and micron thickness polycrystalline) cell technology. This allows for a more efficient panel which works harder in lower light levels.
For optimum output, Energi also used a Fixflat mounting system from Inventux. This revolutionary technology offers a flat-roof mounting system suitable for roofs with low load-bearing. Energi’s experience and skill was demonstrated due to the complex string arrangement and trickier installation process. This array also required additional surge protection methods in place for safety.
In addition to the high technical specification and performance levels, this thin-film system also benefits from having no surround aluminium frame, which offers a sleek and high quality visual appeal.
